That’s why he would never be president.īecoming president requires an incredible amount of work and dedication, which Dewey lacks. But he doesn’t proactively work to improve things. When he sees a problem right in front of him, he will overcome it. He’s also a good leader, but that’s not his genius. He is too anxious and caught up with what others think of him, which was the goal of his mom, to help him overcome those shortcomings to become president.ĭewey is a musical genius. Deweys real name is Erik Per Sullivan, who was 8-years-old when Malcolm in the Middle was first made in 2000 - and 14 when it wrapped in 2006. He is also incredibly driven to improve his skills. Anything math or technical, he is genius level, with additionally having an incredible memory. But his anger and devious short sightedness will probably keep him from his career. The dad is a genius at whatever he tries, but is never interested in doing anything for more than a few days.įrancis is a genius leader and organizer, and probably would have been a general in the military, but is too anti-authority for his own good. He also has the added benefit/experience of being put in the Busey/‘disturbed’ kids class and seeing how they were ignored and exploited.ĭewey is also much better at dealing with people than anyone else in the family.Ĭombine the intelligence, people management/diplomacy skills and his willingness to go out of his way to help people who can’t help/defend themselves (the Buseys and his little brother Jamie) and you get someone almost tailor made to be extremely effective at politics. While Malcolm is unquestionably smart, he also has emotional and psychological baggage and has a tendency to overthink and overact to things.ĭewey, on the other hand is just as smart as Malcolm (or near enough not to matter) and doesn’t have as much (visible) baggage. She also claims that Dewey is the one to have an easy life of riches and luxury.
In the finale of Malcolm in the Middle, Lois reveals that she intends/believes that Malcolm will eventually become the greatest President America has ever had due to his intelligence and the struggles he has been through.
